Ivan Knez Biography
Janez Ivan Knez was born in Slovania in 1937. He began his artistic studies under Professor Kos in Ljubljana. He continued his studies in Paris from 1965 to 1971. There he was strongly influenced by the Impressionist masterpieces on display in the Louvre and Musee Marmottan.
Knez began his career with avant-garde works. At the same time he tried his hand as a sculptor.
Later he adopted a naturalistic and realistic style of painting, showing a preference for romantic landscapes. In all of his styles he has a highly individual technique and expressiveness. Stays in Holland, France, the United States, Switzerland and other countries exposed him to new influences.
