Maurice Lemaitre was born October 17th ,1929  at Gouy sous Bellonne in France. Lemaitre is an impressionist painter influenced by the 19th Century artists. Choosing the field of landscape painting, he paints in loose, free expressionistic manner. Using almost linear strokes he blocks in trees, grass, distant hills and flowing rivers. He prefers the seasons of spring and summer, and his compositions are light and airy. The overall effect is a harmonious balance of tones that captures nature’s gracious beauty.Lemaitre enjoys painting the landscapes of Brittany and Provence. He paints the lush greenery of Northern France as well as the dry dusty hills in the southern part of the country. Though his paintings are truly impressionistic, from a distance they have a subtle realistic quality.Lemaitre paintings have been exhibited at the Puskin Museum in Moscow and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Republic of Russia. Maurice Lemaitre is listed in the French Benezit, page 563.  LeMaître has won numerous awards and is a member of the l’Association des Paysagistes Français. Lemaitre died in 1976.
