Shigeru Wakayama was born in Kumato, Japan (near Tokyo) in 1954.

SHIGERU ATTENDED THE MEIJI UNIVERSITY IN TOKYO FROM 1972 TO 1976 WHERE HE STUDIED ART HISTORY.  IN 1979 HE TRAVELED TO EUROPE AND DECIDED THAT HIS CREATIVE NATURE WOULD BE GREATLY INSPIRED BY LIVING IN FRANCE.  SHIGERU THEN ATTENDED THE BEAUX ARTS SCHOOL IN PARIS STUDYING PAINTING AND GRAPHIC ARTS.

IN 1981 SHIGERU PARTICIPATED IN THE SALON D’AUTOMNE IN PARIS AND THE SALON DES ARTISTES.
IN 1985 SHIGERU WAS AWARDED SECOND PRIZE AT THE SALON DES ARTISTES AND FIRST PRIZE, GOLD MEDAL BY THE ACADEMY OF LUTECE.
IN 1986 SHIGERU RECEIVED FIRST PRIZE AT THE SALON NATIONAL DES BEAUX ARTS.  HE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN GROUP EXHIBITS IN AUSTRIA, FRANCE, ENGLAND, GERMANY AND JAPAN.
IN 1989 SHIGERU CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT IN JAPAN WITH THE ONWARD AND TOBU GALLERIES.  HE WAS ALSO AWARDED THE GOLD MEDAL AT THE SALON D’AUTOMNE IN THAT SAME YEAR.
IN 1990 SHIGERU WON FIRST PRIZE, GOLD MEDAL AT THE SALON DE L’ILE DE FRANCE.

THE PAINTINGS BY SHIGERU WAKAYAMA CAN BE FOUND ON PERMANENT EXHIBIT WITH THE ARNOT ART GALLERIES OF NEW YORK.
