Jacques Geûens, deceased (Belgium 1910 – 1991)

Jacques Geûens (1910-1991), born in Bruges, Belgium was the son of Maurice Geûens (1883-1967).

Maurice Geûens was a well known lawyer, president of the order of the advocates in Bruges and member of the Belgian parliament. Jacques Geûens studied first at the “Beaux Arts” in Brussels and then at the “Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten” in Antwerp, Belgium. Jacques Geûens was clearly a figurative expressionist. In 1942 Jacques married Marguerite Aers, a figurative post impressionist painter.
They established their residence in Brussels while travelling frequently to Paris where both found inspiration with exhibitions in the “Quartier des Arts” during the 1950’s through the  1960’s.
