Teresa Vilarrubias was born in Santiago Vilarrubias, Chile. As a child her family moved from Chile to Barcelona, Spain. Teresa studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. Upon graduation from the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Jorge she earned the title of Professor of Drawing and Painting. After participating in many collective exhibitions, she had her first solo exhibition in Barcelona in 1946. In 1962, Teresa Vilarrubias had collective exhibitions in France, Switzerland, South America and USA. She also participated in events including the Salon de Mai, Salon of Sacred Art, Barcelona Show, National Exhibition of Painting, Sports Hall in the Arts, Cfrculo-Artistic, Chambers of Contemporary Art, Museum of Modem Art, Museo del Toro de Soria,  Friends of the Arts Competition Anglada Guillot, Villa de Palomas, Drawing Fair. She also designed stained-glass art to decorate the Spain-Trade Center in New York. Among her awards was the “Special Topic Prize Sailor” in the Visual Arts Contest 1968, organized by the Art Hall of Martorell (Barcelona), First Prize of Painting of Castelldefels.
